Pullus

Making small-scale poultry farming in northern Nigeria commercially viable, with cluster-based support and guaranteed offtake.
Pullus is a place where poultry farmers can access what they need to grow, thrive, and win, not just a company, but a community that believes in possibilities.

How Pullus creates impact:

Challenge

Small-scale poultry farming in northern Nigeria is fragmented and largely unprofitable. Farmers often lack the knowhow to keep flocks healthy, the capital for good inputs, or a dependable buyer once birds are ready. Many sell through middlemen instead, who pay late, buy selectively, and skip training. Without structured support, flock mortality stays high while incomes stay unstable.

Solution

Pullus uses an app to group farmers into clusters, synchronizing production cycles and aggregating supply for cost-efficient extension services. Better rearing reduces mortality rates and improves quality. Pullus buys all birds at guaranteed prices, pays within 24 hours, and tracks flock data end-to-end through to sale. Its financing program pre-finances inputs, enabling year-round production and higher incomes.

Impact

Pullus has trained over 25’000 farmers across Kaduna, Zaria, Abuja, Nasarawa and Plateau, over 70% of them woman and many entirely new to farming. The cluster model has sharply cut flock mortality rates, and a reliable input financing program has helped farmers double both their production cycles and their incomes.

Founders

Opeoluwa Fayomi, known as Ope, began as a small-scale poultry farmer herself, scaling to 65’000 birds while building relationships with key buyers and the Poultry Association of Nigeria. Watching other farmers struggle with the same challenges she had navigated, she co-founded Pullus in 2023 to fix what she knew was broken.

Abisoye Odeyemi brings over two decades of software engineering experience as CTO, building the technology that makes Pullus’s cluster model work at scale. Opeoluwa’s engineering background and deep sector knowledge, combined with Abisoye’s technical expertise, form a complementary team with a clear head for both impact and commercial discipline.

Why we partner with Pullus

A first-mover in Nigeria’s neglected smallholder poultry market, with a female founder who built the model from her own farming experience.

Women farmer focus

Poultry farming is traditionally women’s work. Pullus formalizes it, raising incomes and building financial track records that unlock opportunities.

The cluster model is the moat

Synchronized production, peer accountability, and coordinated market access reduces costs and builds loyalty. It took time to perfect it and is not easy to replicate.

Technology built for the last mile

The Pullus app powers the model: services, real-time visibility, and offtake management. WhatsApp integration extends reach to farmers without smartphones.

A market set to grow

Nigeria’s poultry sector is one of Africa’s largest and fastest growing, yet local supply meets only 30% of demand. Pullus sits right at the heart of that gap.

Pullus is a true standout transforming the poultry value chain: a unique model, real demonstrated impact, and a farmer-centric team as hardworking as it is entrepreneurial.

Poultry farmers share their stories

For these women, poultry farming is far more than a source of income. It puts food on the table, pays for their children’s education, and strengthens families and communities alike. Their stories show why supporting rural women and creating more opportunities for them matters.
