Philanthropy in Liechtenstein

What if philanthropy doesn’t just fund, but invests?

That was the question we had the pleasure of answering last week at the 10th Philanthropy Platform of the VLGST - Vereinigung liechtensteinischer gemeinnütziger Stiftungen und Trusts e.V. – at the Theater am Kirchplatz in Schaan, Liechtenstein, with the theme "Building Bridges in Fragmented Times.”

At the invitation of our partner Laguna Foundation, Andreas R. Kirchschlaeger and Leonard Wachter showed how traditional philanthropy and impact investing complement each other for greater impact. Samuel Knauss, co-founder and CEO of our portfolio company Elucid, brought this to life directly from a founders perspective: Elucid provides smallholder farming families in global supply chains with access to healthcare – in close collaboration with the sourcing companies. A perfect showcase of what impact investing can do: a societal problem solved through market-based means – in a way where everyone wins: farmers, companies, and entire communities.

A heartfelt thank you to Renate S. and the Laguna Foundation for their trust and for sharing the stage with us, to Samuel for joining us up there – and to Karin Schöb, Renate Demmel, and Alice Nägele of the VLGST for the outstanding organization, and the many valuable conversations over the apéro.
